If you have attended a breastfeeding group, I would imagine that you might have come across one of the 200+ volunteer breastfeeding peer supporters who donate their time and enthusiasm across Kent to support families in their breastfeeding journeys.

Well, as it happens many of these passionate volunteers are also enthusiastic babywearers and often receive questions from new mums about them.  So we applied for a grant from Sevenoaks District Local Children’s Partnership Group and received funding in April 2016.  We have since received some funding from Dartford Borough Council and trained more volunteers in 2017.

In June 2016, we invited the School of Babywearing to come to Swanley and New Ash Green Children’s Centres to train 8 volunteer peer supporters and 3 PSBreastfeeding staff.  The course focused on the practical skills of babywearing, including sling safety and checking slings for wear and tear.  Here are some images from the training –
